These notes give a brief overview of upgrading from a previous version of PC- Share to V4.1. You should read these if you are already running a version of PC-Share and intend to upgrade to a new version.
If you are a new user, proceed to the PC-Share Users guide for full installation instructions.
There are no functional changes in v4.1 so unless you intend to use the product with the PCDragon emulator there is no need to upgrade.
The v4.1 release is available on 32-bit platforms only. There is no 16-bit version.
Download the.zip file for and unzip the 'pcshare4.exe' into your existing PCShare directory. The IO drivers shipped with previous versions are not compatible with this release. If you are using one of the shipped DLLs for either the parallel port or 8255 IO chip you will need to replace the existing PCS-IO32.DLL with the appropriate v4.1 (see the install section in the users guide). If you have written your own driver, consult the Version 4 Users Guide on the necessary changes to make.
No other changes are necessary for v4.0 users. Earlier versions should also perform the changes identified in the following sections.
Download the relevent .zip file for your Windows platform and unzip the 'pcshare4.exe' into your existing PCShare directory. It will then use your existing HDISK files & DLLs.
Copy your existing PCSHARE3.CFG configuration file to PCSHARE4.CFG the settings will migrate successfully, however you should then enter the additional parameters required for PCShare 4 through the 'Config' menu - the 'Command Prompt' and 'Delete Character' fields.
Download the latest driver set. The relevent files to extract from the .ar file are:
If you are upgrading from V3.0 or earlier, see the PCShare v3.2 Upgrade page to upgrade to V3.2 prior to installing V4.0.
